Palafox inducted as PIEP President for 2013 and 2014
Felino Palafox, Jr. was inducted last 29 January 2013 as President of the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) for 2013 and 2014. Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, led the induction ceremony at the Coconut Palace, CCP Complex, Manila.
Palafox is the 30th President of the PIEP since its foundation in 1969 and was the Vice President in 1985 and from 2003 to 2004. Also inducted were PIEP's Board of Directors for 2013 and 2014, namely: Saviniano M. Perez, Jr. (Vice President), Charlie P. Bello (Secretary), Linda Malenab-Hornilla (Treasurer), Bituin B. Torte (Auditor), Daniel T. Lim (PRO), Arnuldo Fabillar (Director), Apollo C. Jucaban (Director), Honorio T. Palarca (Director and Chairman for Chapters), Rodrigo B. Mallonga (Director and Chairman for Committee on Knowledge Management), Minerva C. Rosel (Director), and Encarnacion N. Raralio (Past President).
The PIEP is the national professional organization of licensed environmental planners in the Philippines, duly accredited by the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). It is an advocacy organization concerned with and dedicated to the advancement of well-planned, balanced, and sustainable development and management of the built and natural environment and ecosystems within the context of good governance and human security. The PIEP espouses environmental planning as a strategy to promote a broad-based awareness campaign in support of comprehensive land use and multi-sectoral development planning as well as disaster risk reduction among the general public and at all levels of the environment.
