In partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the City of Pagadian, Palafox Associates will assist in the formulation of the Updated Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Development Plan of the City.
The project will cover the entire 37,880-hectare land area of Pagadian and its 54 barangays. The Palafox team will guide the LGU in updating its plans for 2021-2029, ensuring that it is aligned with the guidelines from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
In line with this, the Palafox team, joined by the City Planning and Development Coordinators Engr. Reynita Ebal with Engr. Maria Rhodora Pati-an, conducted a stakeholders’ consultation last February 23 to 24, 2022. In attendance were Vice Mayor Hon. Maphilindo Obaob, Councilors Hon. Priscilla Fernandez, Hon. Jesuseller Duterte, Hon. Fernando Pameron, Hon. Ronald Ariosa, Hon. Arnold Gavenia, and representatives from the different city departments.
The event’s objective was to finalize the draft land use plan prepared by the Palafox Team and to develop a general list of programs, projects, and activities that can help realize the desired development for the City. The event also aimed to gather insights from the stakeholders and served as a platform to raise their concerns and provide suggestions for the City’s further development. Some of the workshop outputs pertain to potential innovations that can be applied in the City’s future plans, such as digitizing data processing, proper categorization of land uses especially when it comes to protected areas, expansion and development of roads and other utilities, and other innovations that could create revenue-generating assets.
The proposed land use plan will be further developed and detailed policies will be produced by the Palafox team in consideration of the stakeholders’ suggestions while adopting sustainable and green building concepts in the City’s development. The zoning ordinance will also be drafted and then presented in a public hearing.
